Module 1:  Introduction to Medical Assisting / Law & Ethics and Emergency Procedures
Understand the profession of Medical Assisting as well as the laws and ethical issues involved in working with patients.   Student will obtain basic knowledge of emergency procedures and how to triage such conditions.

The Medical Assistant Program is a 30week curriculum which consists of both front and back office training plus 160 hours of externship. The course is designed to prepare students to perform all required skills/duties in an ambulatory care or outpatient care facility. Students who complete the program successfully will be awarded a certificate or program completion and will be qualified to apply to the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants for Certification. Certification opens more doors and increases the individual’s opportunities for employment.
 
This 30 week course is divided into 6 modules; each module is 5weeks long; 240 hours of lecture and lab skills followed by 160 hours of externship.  Total Program hours: 400   Every  student  is  expected  to  meet  all  course  requirements  before  being  eligible  for completion. 

Textbook and class materials: Medical Assistant texbook and clinical supplies inlcuded. 
 PRE-REQUISITES:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • A High School Diploma (or OFFICIAL transcripts) or GED certificate is REQUIRED.
