L. Frank Baum and his family relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1910, and it was here that he built a home, founded a movie studio, and wrote some of his most memorable stories. Also, it is here that he died and is buried. Trace Baum’s “yellow brick road” into early Hollywood with John Powers, a writer with extensive knowledge of Baum. Discover Mr. and Mrs. Baum’s first rented house in the Pico-Union area, the site of the Oz Film Mfg. Co, the location of their custom built home known as Ozcot in Hollywood, and walk the outdoor display gardens of the adjacent Los Angeles Beautification Team. Here you will enjoy a gourmet box lunch of your choice (cost included as part of excursion fee). This journey will also conclude a visit to the great storyteller’s gravesite at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. If you are inclined, come dressed as your favorite Baum character. You’ll be right in step with him!
Depart:  El Camino College lot J (in front of the Marsee auditorium) @ 9:00AM, Return: 5:00PM.
