Forty-five years after his resignation, you can learn more than you can imagine about Richard Nixon. His Presidential Library and Museum has undergone a $15 million renovation. As observed by the Los Angeles Times, the various galleries present “an unflinching but well-rounded portrait of a complicated man whose long career has often been overshadowed by his quick and stunning fall from grace.” The redesigned permanent galleries introduces the public to new and engaging displays that challenge visitors’ critical thinking with a historical perspective of President Nixon’s public and private life. The new galleries are enhanced with exciting interactive exhibitions and the latest in audiovisual technology. The new Nixon Library will interest a broad range of visitors, including younger, tech-savvy audiences. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Library’s beverage and sandwich cart and explore the on-site gift shop. Step-on guide John Powers, who has extensive experience in presenting Nixon on stage, will prepare you for this journey with historical remembrances of the former president from the ‘40s through the ‘70s.  Depart:  El Camino College lot J (in front of the Marsee auditorium) @ 9:00AM, Return: 5:00PM

Celebrate the Summer Solstice at one of the greatest reservations of global trees in southern California. The mission of the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden is the cultivation of our natural, horticultural, and historic resources for learning, enjoyment, and inspiration. The Garden strives to reflect southern California’s distinct climate, community, and openness to new ideas. The Arboretum is a unique 127-acre botanical garden and historical site that includes Native American, Rancho Period, and late 19th century treasures. You will discover plants and trees from all over the world as you wander along paths and learn about California history on your journey through the garden. You will enjoy lunch on your own at the Peacock Café. Also, you will explore the Garden’s Gift Shop, a unique source for an array of peacock-theme merchandise. Almost everyone leaves the Arboretum in love with its beautiful peacocks and peahens. You can take them home, at least an image of the bird on a fan, candle, magnet, or puppet—to name just a few examples of its wonderful collection of peacock-motif merchandise.  Depart:  El Camino College lot J (in front of the Marsee auditorium) @ 9:00AM, Return: 5:00PM
